Texas Constables are an elite group of law enforcement that predates even the Texas Rangers! They were written into the Texas Constitution of 1876 and remain as one of only a few Constitutional Officers of the State of Texas. Constables are among the earliest recorded police officers in world history. The term "COP" was created in 1066 under King William as an acronym for "constable on patrol". This law enforcement concept traveled to America with its first settlers. Today's constables still hold these added powers of enforcement and work along-side county sheriffs and local law enforcement departments.
Bosque County has 2 elected Constables that serve 4-year terms. Constables specialize in the enforcement of Civil Law and are the civil process servers of our county. Our Bosque County Constables have a strong dedication to fast, accurate, and courteous civil process procedures. Many of our civil process procedures are completed within the first 48 hours of receiving the adequate paperwork and fees. While some civil process procedures have time constraints of their own, Bosque County Constables use their best due diligence in properly handling all civil processes as quickly as possible.
